Ebbw Vale 2nd XI visited top of the league Lisvane looking to complete the double over their Cardiff rivals and to keep up their promotion push. Winning the toss, Vale asked the home side to bat.  Despite Lisvane looking as if they had no one in their line up that could take the game away from Vale, a combination of some very sloppy fielding and a little luck saw them post a useful total of 246 for 9. Pick of the Vale bowlers were Gareth Williams with 1 for 24 off 8 and Ryan Morgan with 3 for 55.

EBBW VALE UNDER 13’S 134 FOR 4

Ebbw Vale under 13’s travelled to Brynmawr on Wednesday night and came away with a hard earned victory to maintain their title challenge. Batting first Vale scored a respectable 134 for 4 with Nick Pepper retiring on 32 not out and Matthew Brooks 19 being the mainstays of the innings. For the hosts there were some good bowling performances from N Davies and A Curtis.

The Ebbw Vale second string continued their rich vein of form with a fifth consecutive win over league leaders Newbridge at Eugene Cross Park on Saturday. Once again, losing the toss Vale were asked to field, and the opening attack of the returning Gareth Williams and Matthew Nash kept  the Newbridge openers very quiet for the first 12 overs. Soon the pressure told and wickets began to fall, but a fifth wicket partnership rallied the visitors to take them to 213 for 7. Pick of the Vale bowlers was Simon Williams with 4 for 41.

NEWBRIDGE UNDER 13S  - 112 FOR 4

Vale slipped to a disappointing defeat at Newbridge in midweek despite having a reasonable total to defend. Batting first Vale made a good start before losing Jack Caswell with the score on 35. Ryan Murphy Sharpe continued his good form with 30 not out and having to retire, and Nicky Pepper also hit an unbeaten 30 to take the total to 111 in 20 overs.
